Whose Attention Are You Grabbing - FGHT Devotional

Whose Attention Are You Grabbing?

I’ve heard it all my life — how the devil “walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). That verse used to send a little shiver down my spine. Then one day I read in Job how Satan told the Lord that he had been “going to and fro in the earth” (Job 1:7). It hit me — the devil stays busy. He’s on his job. Always looking for an opportunity to catch someone off guard so he can attack.  That realization used to make me anxious. I’d think, how can I stay ready all the time? But that’s when God began teaching me something deeper. The enemy might be prowling, but he’s not the only one searching.

In 2 Chronicles 16:9 we read, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” Wow. Did you catch that? While Satan is running around trying to find someone to devour, God is scanning the earth looking for someone to bless — someone to show Himself strong for.

That changed everything for me. The enemy looks for weakness. God looks for faith. Satan watches for the one who’s given up praying. God looks for the one who keeps believing when it makes no sense. I can almost picture God sitting high in the heavens, scanning the earth like a bright searchlight — and when He spots that flicker of faith, He commands His angels, “Go help that one. Strengthen them.”

So, here’s the question that stopped me in my tracks: Whose attention am I grabbing? Am I living in fear and frustration, catching the enemy’s eye? Or am I walking in faith, drawing the gaze of my Father?

Don’t let your guard down. Keep your heart anchored in prayer. Stay in the Word. Because while Satan is looking for someone to destroy, God is looking for someone to deliver.  Whose attention are you getting today — God’s or Satan’s?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for watching over me. Help me stay alert, not fearful. Strengthen my faith so that when You look across the earth, you’ll see me trusting You. Let my life draw Your attention and reflect Your strength. In Jesus’ name, amen.
