We Serve a Mighty God

We Serve A Mighty God

6 For unto us a child is born, unto a son is given:  and the government shall be upon his shoulders:  and his name shall be called wonderful, counsellor, the mighty God, the everlasting father, the Prince of Peace.  (Isaiah 9:6)

When we think about God, we should consider how mighty He is. He is mighty in strength and power, not only to save but to do whatever it is that we need Him to do.
Throughout scripture, we see God’s Mighty Hand at work. He delivered the Israelites through the Red Sea, the three Hebrew boys from the fiery furnace, and Daniel from the lion’s den. All of these were mighty acts of God, none of which are humanly possible to perform. There is none like our God. Who else can we expressly say has done the things God can do?

God kept the Israelites’ shoes and clothes from waxing old in times past. He caused water to come out of a rock to give them water when they were thirsty. He fed them with manna from Heaven. He fought battles for them and was a guide to them by day and night. There is no one alive who can proclaim to have done the same things God has done.

When we read of God’s power in times past, it should give us the faith that is needed for today. When we find ourselves in tough situations, we should remember that we serve a Mighty God. There is nothing that God will not do for us now that He has not already done before.
If He fed His children in times past, He will feed us today. If we read in the Bible that He has healed, we know that He will heal us. If we see how He made a way out of no way in His Word, we can be assured trust that He will do it for us too!

It all comes down to the faith that we can muster to believe in Him.

The Bible says in Hebrews 11:16 KJV that without faith, it is impossible to please God. We must believe that God is God and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Our faith in God will be rewarded. The things that we believe God for will come to pass because of our faith.

Our faith cannot be in our heads only, however.   Believing in God is a matter of the heart. We must see that God loves us so much that He provided the earth for us and will supply all our needs. Since we had no hand in creating this earth, we must therefore realize that we will have no hand in our deliverance. When we need help, our help must come from God. We must see that God is our only source of help. But, when you think about it, what better help is there to have? Now, I don’t know about you, but I would rather have a Mighty God on my side helping me throughout this life.

Some of you might say, “I believe in God, and I know He is able, I’m just being challenged in my faith at the moment.” Let me encourage you to stay before the Lord in prayer and ask Him to give you the strength that you need.  Open your heart even more to believe His Word.

You may be a person who has not given your heart to our Mighty God.  I strongly urge you to do so now. You cannot successfully live this life without Him. Accept His Son Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and allow Him to enter your heart today. You do that by repenting or asking Him to forgive you for all your sins.  Then, turn away from those sins and ask Christ to be the Ruler of your heart. He will accept you as His own and guide you through this life if you’ll let Him.

You may also be someone who wants to re-dedicate your life to God. Perhaps you you’ve fallen from where you used to be and would like to restore your fellowship with Him. Simply ask the Lord to forgive you for leaning to your understanding, for doing things your way, then get back on track. He loves you and wants you to continue to follow Him.

Let us pray. Father God, I thank You for being a Mighty God.  Help my heart to see You in all things and bless my understanding in the things of God. Fill me with Your Spirit that I may live a life that pleases You and help me to be ever determined to live for You all the days of my life. In the matchless name of Jesus the Christ I pray, Amen.
