The Road to Righteousness

The Road to Righteousness

The Book of Romans provides five specific scriptures that will guide every man to salvation and ultimately to Heaven.  Let us take a drive along the Roman Road and visit five road signs along the way.

Road Sign No. 1, Romans 3:23, assures us that we all need to be saved.  23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Road Sign No. 2 is Romans 5:8. This road sign lets us know how much God loves us and who is responsible for our salvation, even while we were still sinners.  It states: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The third Road Sign that we encounter on the Roman Road is, Romans 6:23.  This sign gives us the best reason to choose God’s way rather than remain a sinner.  It says:   23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Road Sign No. 4 is next.  It is Romans 10:9. This road sign is very important because it gives clear and specific instructions on how to be saved.  It states:  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

The Final Road Sign on the Roman Road, No. 5, is Romans 10:10.  This road sign clarifies and illuminates what was stated on the previous sign.  It states:  10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Following the Roman Road will lead all travelers to salvation.  Then, after a stop at the Holy Ghost Filling Stations of Acts 1: 8 and Luke 11:9-13, Everyman is equipped to make it all the way to Heaven.

 Acts 1:8 states: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

  Luke 11:9-13 says:  And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Let us pray:  Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you that you not only gave us your only begotten Son and that Jesus laid down His life for us.  But Father, You also provided clear directions in the Word of God so that we might obtain salvation.  We thank you for the Holy Ghost who will lead us into all truth and lead us all the way to Heaven.  It is our commitment that we will follow your instructions and live for You all the days of our lives.  In the Mighty name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
