The Principle of Sowing and Reaping from the Book of Galatians

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.           Gal. 6:7

If a principle is really a principle, then it must always apply.  This principle from the Book of Galatians is a powerful one.  You are going to reap what you sow.  If you sow, make sure it is only good because it is coming up again. You are going to reap it.

And, isn’t it something that what you reap is always so much more than what you sowed?  Take a single grain of corn, for example.  One grain will produce a stalk which has an abundance of ears that will yield multiple grains.  This is true whether the thing that you sow is good or bad.  With that thought in mind, let us make some practical applications.

-Children, please treat your parents right because you may be a parent one day. The kind of child that you were will yield the kind of children that you reap.

-It may feel good to have the upper hand on someone for the moment, but it’s coming up again.  It will not feel so good to have someone get the upper hand on you

-Rejoicing in the trials of another may seem ever so funny, but remember tomorrow.  We had a childhood saying that went like this:  “Laughing is catching when yo’ big mouth stretches.”  Meaning:  Go ahead and laugh at your brother or sister.  It won’t feel so funny when your big mouth is crying while others laugh at you.

-Eating poorly and refusing to take care of your body may seem like the thing to do today, but you are only sowing weed seeds. And you know weeds are much heartier than good grass seeds.

-Yep, it is your thing and, true, you can do what you want to do, but the repercussions may be more than you will want to bear.

Please remember that what you are planting today are simply landmines on the road of time. Those landmines are waiting on you and they will blow up in due time and in a season that you least expect. Make sure that you reap an explosion of good things. You can reap good only if you plant good.  Oh yes BTW, if you sow nothing you reap nothing.

Love God, treat your neighbor right and live holy. Love you and God bless.
