I can’t act as if I, completely, understand the triune nature of God.
It doesn’t mean that I don’t understand it, or don’t believe it.
It just means that the very miracle of it is so amazing that it’s
harder to explain than it is for me to grasp my mind around it.
If I may, I’ll quickly try to do so.
See, God is one God; not three. God is the simplistic composite of
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. To the human mind this
would be considered 3 Gods, but it is not so. And I believe the
most easiest way to describe it is by the American government system.
There are three branches of One government body. These three branches
should be a cohesive unit working as one system for the good of one
country. America doesn’t have 3 governments. We have one government
executing laws and justice and judgment through it’s three essences.
Now, that I’ve confused most of you. I’ll move on to what I really
wanted to talk about: God, the Son.
If you’ve been in church any length of time you probably know John 3:16
fairly well. “For God[the Father] so loved the world that He gave his
only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but
have everlasting life.” Now, most people don’t realize that it’s the Son
that’s making this statement. Jesus Christ puts you directly into the
heart and mind of God the Father by revealing to you that the Father loves
mankind so much that he’s willing to give of himself, his Son, to make a
way for mankind to not be lost in this world of sin. But more profoundly
is the fact that the Son stands ready to give his life, with every level of
pain and misery that goes along with that, to execute the Father’s plan.
Jesus Christ is very much God in every capacity that God is God. Jesus Christ
is the “I Am” as stated in John 8:58. God told Moses this in Exodus 3:14.
God told Isaiah in Isa. 42:8 that “I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not
give my glory to another, or my praise to idols.” If Jesus Christ wasn’t God
then God would have to kill Jesus Christ for making the claim of being “I Am.”
Jesus Christ claimed to be equal to God by forgiving men of their sins. The
scribes knew that only God could forgive sins, and this was correct on their
parts. Thus, Jesus Christ would forgive people of their sins then turn around
and heal them, also, to prove that he had the power to do so because he was
God.
Colossians 1:15 – 16, let’s you know that Jesus Christ is the image of the
invisible God, therefore, God manifested, and that by him[Jesus Christ] all things
were created that are in heaven and in earth; that are invisible and visible,
whether they are thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers. Everything
that exists was created by Jesus Christ [God].
But forget the facts. They are the facts, but, now, look at the love of Jesus
Christ. I’m not trying to prove to you how real he is, or his majesty, or his
power, or even his status. I want you to see the love of Jesus for you.
Jesus Christ really cares about how you are, how you feel, what you want, and what
you need. He’s concerned about the fact that you may believe the illusion that this
life is the real life, and that there’s nothing beyond this existence but the endless
hopelessness that seems to exist in this world.
Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil, and to manifest the love of
God, so you may be saved from the coming destruction that the lost will face. God
the Son looked at the Father and said “I will be that sacrifice, the lamb that must
be slain if that means it’s going to save billions of people. I’ll be the one to
take the beaten from my own creation. I’ll get spit on. I’ll take the lashes.
I’ll take the nails in my hand and feet. And I’ll let them pierce my side if that
means I can save, but a few of them. I’ll do it.”
None of us run to death. If we did it would be for our child or our spouse, but I
dare say if it was for one of our cousins we’d try to figure out why isn’t one of
their children or their spouse or mother isn’t giving their life for them. Nobody
wants to experience the pain of death. Even Jesus Christ’s human side had second
thoughts. But thanks be to God that Jesus Christ wasn’t just human, but he was
God. That’s why no man could be this sacrifice. He would have given up right at
the end.
Thank you, God, for not giving up on us.
Jesus Christ gave his life that you may have a right to the tree of life. Don’t
claim the name of Christianity, and make Jesus look bad by not being all the
Christian you can be. We are, now, in the family of the most high God through the
sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It is in him we move and have our being. All glory and
honor goes to him. And one day…every knee shall bow…and every tongue shall
confess…that Jesus is Lord.
Don’t just let Jesus Christ just be your Lord. Make sure, today, that your soul is right;
that your name has been written down in the lamb’s book of life, and know for sure
that Jesus Christ is your savior. Amen.
