God is All Righteousness

FGHT Devotion

1 John 3: 7 – …He that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.

Matthew 6:33 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…

Righteousness is one of the chief attributes of God. It means to conform to a high standard of morality or virtue and to be free of all iniquity. The Bible is saturated with God’s righteousness. From Genesis to Revelations it is made clear to us that God is all righteous, and that He is only well-pleased with the same from us. He is so righteous that only those who are also righteous can truly worship Him. An unrighteous person can praise Him because He said, “Let everything that has breath praise Him” (Psalm 150:6), but everyone that has breath cannot worship Him. It is written that only the righteous can worship God in spirit and truth (John 4:24).

God is as righteous today as He was at the beginning of time when He created the world, and He will never change. The concept of unrighteousness is of the devil. It is because of the devil’s evilness that unrighteousness inhabits the lives of so many. We who are righteous should be grateful for our relationship with God and for His remarkable righteousness.

Today, the earth is filled with more unrighteousness than righteousness. Sin is the foundation for all the turmoil that exists, and it can be recognized everywhere we go. If we go to a restaurant, grocery store, bank, to the street corner, or take a flight from one side of the world to the other, we will find that unrighteousness is more commonly seen than righteousness. Is this pleasing to an “All Righteous” God? No, it is not. Our righteous God has no part in unrighteousness.

We must keep in mind that every human heart is unrighteous until God changes it.  The heart desperately needs to be changed and God will provide that change, but only if we ask for it.  God requires us to seek His kingdom and His righteousness to the saving of our soul. Let us strive to make righteousness a principal factor in our lives and display holiness that is acceptable unto God. It is imperative that we daily search our hearts that we may please Him who has called us to righteousness.

Let us Pray – Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for Your righteousness and for giving me the opportunity to be righteous according to Your requirements. I know that if I remain righteousness, I will spend eternity with You. I thank you because it is only You that can make the heart pure, Holy, and righteous according to Your perfect Will.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
