According to the Urban Dictionary, the popular expression “don’t get it twisted” means several things, but the best definition is “don’t get it wrong or don’t be confused about it.” It’s important that we are not confused about key issues presented in the Bible.
This year on Palm Sunday, we had a wonderful Sunday school lesson concerning the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Bethphage and Bethany on a colt that had never before been ridden. It was at that time that Jesus formally announced his Messiah status. The people received him as the Messiah. Jesus was very careful to assure that the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9 was accurately fulfilled. This scripture so clearly described how the Messiah would appear that no one should have been confused.
Zechariah 9:9 (KJV)
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
The people treated Jesus as a great celebrity and received him in royal fashion. The problem was that the people “got it twisted.” They thought that Jesus had arrived to relieve them of the burdens of the Roman administration at that time. They had no idea that He was sent to bring salvation and to destroy the power of sin for all of mankind. Less than one week following the events of what is now known as Palm Sunday, some of the same people who cried, “Hosanna!” and celebrated him by laying their garments and palm branches on the ground, cried “Crucify Him!”
And guess what. Even today many people are getting the gospel message twisted. Have you noticed that almost everybody that you speak to today is “saved” and going to Heaven as far as they are concerned? They may be drinking, doing drugs, living in sin and committing every abominable act that one can imagine such as sodomy, abortion, fornication, adultery, lying, cheating, and stealing, yet they declare that they are going to Heaven anyway. If this were true, then everything that should be in Hell would wind up in Heaven–and you know that that’s not going to happen. They refuse to accept the Bible’s guidelines on how we are to live, yet contend that they are free to do these things! Why on earth would Jesus lay down his life so that men could be set free from sin if living according to the Word of God does not matter?
Romans 8:1-3 (KJV)
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Jesus came to save us and he is going to receive ONLY those who are saved into his kingdom.
Ephesians 5:27 (KJV)
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
God sent Jesus to die for our sins so that sin could be condemned. So do you really think that people who continue to live in sin are going to Heaven in their sins? NO! NOT! SO! Let’s not get this thing twisted.
Everybody talking about Heaven ain’t going there. The Bible tells us that he that commits sin is of the devil!
1 John 3:8-9(KJV)
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
So how is that “church folks” get the gospel message so twisted? They declare that they love God and that they want to go to Heaven, yet they believe that they are going to Heaven in their sins. Apostle Herman Lobias Murray, Jr., the Pastor of Full Gospel Holy Temple Church in Dallas, TX explained it all. I highly recommend that everyone listen to his message on YouTube which aired Sunday, May 29, 2015, entitled, “Somebody Ought to Say Something.” It is a “knock-your-socks-off” message that everyone needs to hear. It is a powerful expose’ on how the entertainment industry is being used to subtly and insidiously corrupt the minds of people into believing that sin is acceptable…even the church. Jesus is soon to come and we have to prepare for His return. Get right church and let’s go home. And don’t get it twisted, Mister…or Ms.; No one is going to Heaven if they are living a life of sin.
